Dr. Sanae Suzuki
DAOM, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM)®, L.Ac. is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine – a nationally certified and California State Board licensed acupuncturist and clinical herbalist.
She is among the 1% of acupuncturists who hold the DAOM degree, which signifies the highest level of training in both biomedicine and traditional medicine. In addition to her professional degree, she also has advanced training in mental health and functional medicine, as well as knowledge and experience of facial/ cosmetic acupuncture, both Japanese and US styles. Dr. Suzuki has worked in Western medicine clinics and hospital settings for mental health and pain management. Dr. Suzuki’s doctoral research was focused on insomnia.

Born and raised in Japan where traditional medicine is deeply rooted in the culture and daily life, it was natural for her to choose this path. She earned her Bachelor’s degree with honors in Philosophy at Nihon University, Tokyo, where she was awarded the Dean’s scholarship, with extended study in Chinese philosophy, completing her thesis on comparative religion. After working in fast-paced information technology companies for over a decade, she relocated to Southern Italy and then to California.
While she was in the Master’s program at Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California, she also had additional training in gentle Japanese style acupuncture, Nei Gong, Qi Gong, and Tai Chi. Dr. Suzuki’s clinical internships included rotations at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, as well as the Being Alive! HIV Community Clinic in West Hollywood.
She speaks Japanese, English, Italian, and some Spanish, and is currently learning Arabic.
